PORTLAND MERCURY : MARCH 25, 2004

American Hit List is a typical rock band, replete with macho singing, psychedelic freak outs, and guitaring that makes you want to drink beer and smoke cigarettes. I can vouch for AHL's skill, however, which is considerable--check those guitar solos--and trumps most typical rock bands you see lumbering about.

ROGUE RIVER PRESS : FEBRUARY 7, 2004

"Rogue River is known in many circles as the location of the annual National Rooster Crow Championship, but if its present path remains intact, the new local calling card may be "Hometown of American Hit List. Veterans of the Portland music scene, American Hit List is slowly climbing their way from garage band to regional favorite to, maybe, more mainstream success."

WILLAMETTE WEEK : FEBRUARY 19, 2003

Portland's American Hit List may seem obsessed with the sounds of classic AOR radio favorites like CCR, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top and Golden Earring, but it's catchy choruses and hooky riffs sound ready to climb the charts of the current g-g-generation. The quartet began in Eugene, while it's members were hitting the books. Its following grew, songs made Oregon radio and MTV recently licensed recordings for its ever-popular show The Real World. We can say we knew AHL way back when.

WILLAMETTE WEEK

...you're much more mellifluous than even the latest QOTSA songs. More like '70 power-pop almost...not quite Alex Chilton, but sort of along those lines, with a '90s alternative pop sensibility...

CORVALLISLIVE.COM : SEPTEMBER 2002 - FOX & FIRKIN

Do not miss this show. Rock in Corvallis has never been this right. The vocals from the drummer pull this band together. Classic hair front man that crossing Jim Morrison with Richard Gear struts, controlled the stage with more raw primal energy than Corvallis has seen in a long time. Co-Fronting lead guitarist nailed every note while head banging beyond Fox & Firkin's known limits.

ROSS & THE HELLPETS : MARCH 11, 2001 - SATYRICON

Last up was a band called American Hit List. These guys rocked my socks off, figuratively speaking. Their songs were tight, their stage presence was undeniable and their antics were marvelously goofy. It was the third pleasant surprise of the night (yes, I was pleasantly surprised by us too). The lead guitarist, for instance, was all over the place with unbridled wackiness. My favorite moment was when he unplugged his guitar and made percussive amp noise by grounding his guitar cord on his tongue. I think these guys are from Eugene, OR, but I haven't been able to find much info about them on the internet. If you're a fan of high-energy rock entertainment, I would suggest you go check them out.
